Admirers of hiking and cycling find in Czech Giant Mountains perfect place for active rest. Buses that shuttle from end of May are amenity for cyclists. They are adapted to transport of bicycles. They run everyday in July and August and every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in September. The timetables are available in the bus stops and in Information Centers.
In this season are also waiting for cyclists new routes mostly with hardened pavement. These are independent devious roads or establish to existing bike paths. For example, by cycle-bus you can ride from Vrchlabí to Jánské Lázně. From there you can take (for free) your bike by cable car at Black Mountain (Černá hora) and come back to Vrchlabí.
Examples of bike paths for families with children:
Szpindlerowy Młyn – Labsky Dul
Route follows the blue-marked hiking trail from lower station of cable car – Medvedin to the beginning of Labsky Dul cirque – one of the most beautiful places in the Giant Mountains. Length: 8km. Surface: tarmac.
Track to Mumlavski’s Waterfalls
Bike path number 2A begins in Harrachov, near the Museum of Glass and leads to Mumlavski’s Falls. Length: 3km. Surface: tarmac.
Track Vrchlabi – Lano
It leads along the road from Vrchlabi to Trutnov. There is a tarmac bike path, which has 2m of width. It is suitable for short family trips on bikes or roller blades. Track has minimal differences in height. Lenght: 2 km.
Community Lánov is located at an altitude of 462 AMSL. We find there a big limestone quarry, which arose in the end of XVIII century. Lánov and the Giant Mountains we can admire from the bird’s eye using the offer sightseeing flights from local airports. In addition to flights at the airport, you can ride a scooter in the winter. Here are organizing traditional competition of dog sled.
Many of educational and tourist routs passes through the most interesting places of Karkonosze National Park.
Protected Track Dvorský las
Protected area Dvorský Forrest is the highest place on the brow of Rýchor, located between Horní, Maršov, Žacléř, Albeřice and Babí. Educational tour leads through terrain of Rýchor. This is very valuable. In terms of scientific and natural, this is very valuable area belong to I and II zone of Karkonosze National Park. The original name of Golden Rýchory derives from period of time, when the slope of the mountain was mined silver and gold. In the upper parts preserved primeval forest (Dvorský forest), rare species of vegetations, and cultural monuments, which include, for example, baroque cross from the beginning of XIX century or remnants of the Sklenářovice village.
Educational tour – Rýchory
It follows through the region of Rýchory. The track begins in the mountain hostel Rýchorska bouda. Rout has 10 stations and leads through most exiting parts of national park. Marked hiking trials lead from the tower in Maxovka towards the crossroad of Kutná to Dvorský Forrest. We will not find here classic information boards, but only small wooden plate with numbers. Descriptions are printed in guides, which are available in the beginning of the route in the hostel Rýchorska bouda.
Trip from Beneck to the view tower – Žalý
Route leads us to the oldest in Giant Mountains stone view tower, which was built at the command of Count Harrach. The tower has a beautiful view of the large part of Giant Mountains, Czech Paradise and further surroundings.
Route to the Hucul stables
In the distance of 12 km from Beneck we will find about 300 hucul horses. They graze 300 acres of pasture at an attitude of 1000 AMSL. The Farm offers riding lessons, rides around the area, accommodation and catering services.
